Galacticos FC crowned champions of 5th Chakre Chovow Chithuni Football Tournament

MAO, Jan 18 : The 35th Chakre Chovow Chithuni Football Tournament, organized by the Song Song Youth and Students Organisation (SSYSO) and sponsored by Striven Football Club, concluded today with a grand valedictory programme filled with cultural events at the Okhro-Ikhro Ground, Mao Gate.
This year’s tournament played by 16 teams also commemorated the 25th anniversary of Striven Football Club, marking a significant milestone for the community.
N Kaikho Kapa, Joint Director (Retd), Tribal Affairs & Hills, graced the occasion as chief guest.
The thrilling final match between Emerald Football Club (EFC) and Galacticos Football Club (GFC) captivated the audience. After a hard-fought contest, Galacticos FC emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 1-0, claiming their 8th championship title and a cash prize of Rs Rs 35,000 besides  trophy and medals. The runners up meanwhile settled for a cash prize of Rs 20,000 with trophy and medals.
In addition to the football matches, the tournament featured a Women’s Penalty Shoot-out, where the Emerald Girls Football Club emerged as champions, and above 45 years (veteran) Men’s Penalty Shoot-out which was won by Chovow United Football Club and several exhibition matches.
Semi-finalist teams  Hearken United FC & Patroknights FC;   Best Discipline team: Emerald Stars FC; Golden Ball winner : Lohrii Kaisii (EFC);  Golden Boot winner Athikho Kathihríí (HUFC);  Golden Glove winner  Besii Mariizio (GFC);  Best Defender Varieyang Hriiyio (GFC);  Man of the final match Pfokrehrii Athili (GFC) and  Emerging Player of the Tournament Besii Hriiyizio (All Star FC) were also feted during the valedictory programme.
