IMPHAL, Jan 19 : "Eibu Nungshibiyu Haide", a poetry book written by eminent theatre personality Ratan Thiyam was released today at The Shrine Playhouse Chorus, Uripok.
The book release function was graced by former Station Director of All India Radio, Imphal Dilip Mayengbam  as chief guest.
Author, translator and critic Longjam Joychandra, on the other hand, gave insight into the poetry book.
Some poems written by Ratan Thiyam were also recited during the function.
Addressing the gathering, Ratan Thiyam said that Eibu Nungshibiyu Haide is a compilation of life lessons in verse.
He appealed to the people to read his poems in their free time.
Joychandra said that Ratan's poetry book has 67 short poems which are similar to Haiku, a short form of poetry which originated in Japan.
He said that "Eibu Nungshibiyu Haide" is the fifth poetry book of Ratan Thiyam with the other four being "Takhellei Nachom-lakta Chigonglei", "Tala Pamel Nahakshu", "Mang-khraba Sahargee Loikhraba Wari"  and "Tabidraba Tengthakhol". The critic said that the first love of Ratan Thiyam is not theatre but literature and his contribution to Manipuri literature and poetry should not be taken for granted.
