HPC-D cadre sent to jail

IMPHAL, Jan 18 : The Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Jiribam on Saturday remanded a cadre of a SoO signatory in judicial custody till February 1.
Accused Lalchuoilo alias Lalchoilou Hmar (48) of Lungthullien Colony in Pherzawl district staying at Rengkai village in Chura-chandpur is a cadre of Hmar People’s Convention - Democratic (HPC-D) and he was formally arrested by police a couple of days back in connection with the bombardment of a residential place belonging to a Meetei family in Jiribam on December 11 last.
Lalchuoilo is also the same person who was arrested by police and Assam Rifles along with brown sugar and explosives on January 9 from Tipaimukh. The accused was produced before the Court on completion of his police custody period by Borobekra police with a prayer to send him to judicial custody to investigate the case pertaining to the bombing of the house belonging to one Ningthoujam Ibungo of Narayanpur located some distance away from Borobekra police station.
The accused has disclosed that he is an active member of HPC-D and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the co-accused persons involved in destroying the house, said the APP.
The Court, after hearing the submission of APP and on perusal of the material on record, remanded the militant in judicial custody till February 1.
