IMPHAL, Jan 17: Imphal East Superintendent of Police K Meghachandra has appealed to all the people to refrain from spreading hate and provocative speeches/messages on social media and also from indulging in any pre-judicial activities that may create enmity between different communities.
Instances of activities of certain organisations and individuals that may lead to enmity and conflict between different communities, including detention and assault in the name of moral policing and hate speech on social media are reported frequently, the SP said in a press release.
Noting that such activities, in certain cases, led to death or grievousinjury of individuals, the SP informed that stringent action will be taken up against organisations and individuals involved in such illegal and unauthorised activities, particularly those who indulge in activities which may lead to enmity and conflict between different communities, as per provisions of law.
He further appealed to all CSOs and the general public to cooperate in preventing such activities and extend support while taking action against such anti-social elements.
