IMPHAL, Jan 16: Praying that the terrifying fate of the six members of a family massacred by Kuki terrorists at Jiribam does not befall upon any other individual/family, a surviving member of the family has decried the Government’s failure to bring justice to the gruesome massacre.
Notably, Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup have been staging a relay hunger strike at Uripok Canteen Corner demanding exemplary punishment for all the Kuki terrorists involved in the gruesome and barbaric massacre of three women and three children of a family at Jiribam last year.
Taking part in the relay hunger strike, Ningthoujam (O) Ibenoubi expressed strong indignation against the Government’s inability to take up any action after the Kuki terrorists have massacred six innocent women and children in cold blood.
The three women including Yurembam Rani and the three children were taken hostage by the Kuki terrorists on November 11, 2025 from Jiribam and they were murdered in the most barbaric manner in the subsequent days as evident in their mutilated bodies.
Ibenoubi is the second daughter of Yurembam Rani.
Praying that such terrifying incidents do not happen to any other family, Ibenoubi urged the Government to take up befitting action against the Kuki terrorists and deliver justice to the victims.
She also questioned the inability of the Government to take up any action against the Kuki Ministers and MLAs who have been openly supporting Kuki militants. She said that she was grateful to Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup for their unyielding fight for justice.
FOCS president Th Manihar who also took part in the relay hunger strike said that Hmars and Meiteis were living in complete harmony at Jiribam.
Even after the violent conflict was raging in different parts of the State, Hmars and Meiteis lived peacefully at Jiribam and they even signed a peace agreement.
But ultimately violence erupted at Jiribam too after the Hmars were instigated by Kuki terrorists, Manihar said.
The people’s demand for deployment of additional State forces and neutral Central forces has not been properly addressed yet.
On the other hand, the Government of India has been silently watching the 21 months old violent crisis, Manihar added.
