Veteran Cricket : Thoungamba, Jit lead BSC to 60-run victory against LCC

IMPHAL, Jan 15 : Irungbam Jit scored a half century and Irungbam Thoungamba produced an all-round performance to guide BSC to a 60-run victory against LCC, Lamsang in the ultimate Group A match of the ongoing 21st Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament.
BSC amassed 183 runs for 8 wickets down in the allotted 30 overs after the team won the toss and opted to bat first this morning at Langthabal Public Ground. The team bowled out 9-man LCC for 123 runs in 24.3 overs to seal their second win in as many as four matches.
With the win, BSC joined the fray for the remaining quarterfinal berth alongside SNC, Sangaiprou and BKCC, Bamon Kampu, but could not make it to the quarterfinals as BKCC emerged with the highest net run rate among them  and finished group runners up.
BSC posted the competitive total thanks to Irungbam Jit's half century knock (47-ball 52) and notable contributions from Subashchandra (31 off 36 balls), K Lalmani (28 off 32 balls), Thoungamba (20 off 16 balls) and G Rishi (16 off 26 balls).
The innings saw A Dilip of LCC enjoying a four wicket haul (4/33 in 6 overs) while S Nandakumar, A Romendro and L Morning picked a wicket apiece.
In reply, Chirom Kamaljit 34 and Yanglem Michael 33 led the scoring before they slumped to 123/8 in 24.3 overs. BSC's Thoungamba returned with the best bowling figures of 2/35 in 6 overs as H Sobhananda, A Jayadeva, N Robert and K Lalmani chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Thoungamba who added 20 runs and picked two wickets was adjudged man of the match.
