IMPHAL, Jan 15 : Thangmeiband Constituency MLA Kh Joykisan has extended cash assistance of Rs 10,000 each to two ailing journalists - Leimapokpam Kabichandra of Impact TV and Ayekpam Birjit Meetei of Kangla Pao today.
The MLA visited Birjit who is the chief reporter of Kangla Pao at RIMS and video journalist Kabichandra at his residence at Kongpal Chanam Leikai Mamang Sabal and extended the cash assistance.
While Birjit has been undergoing treatment for  a skin disease, Kabichanda sustained a bullet injury while covering an attack by Kuki militants at Thamna-pokpi side recently.
Speaking to the media at Kongpal, Joykisan prayed for speedy recovery of the two journalists and their return to service.
The MLA said that he has been lending a helping hand to sick or injured journalists before joining politics.
Extending New Year greetings to the people, he prayed for  peace, stability and normalcy to return to Manipur.
There is no complete normalcy in Manipur but the situation, nonetheless, has improved, he added.
Saying that the Central leadership, State Government and the BJP have been putting  in efforts to resolve the crisis besetting Manipur, the MLA appealed to the people to prioritize compassion  over revenge and focus on saving lives rather than taking.
"Forgive transgressions of the past and let's move forward with compassion," he appealed.
Violence will only beget violence, he reasoned.
He said that the forces which have been driving a wedge among the people need to be defeated to take Manipur to greater heights.
Journalists have a big role to  play to restore normalcy, the MLA further said.
