Stop violence : NPO

SENAPATI, Jan 13: After the Kangpokpi District Magistrate's declaration of curfew under Section 163 of BNSS 2023 at Marenmei area, the Naga People's Organisation (NPO) has issued a directive to all the parties to immediately cease any confrontation and violence in the village.
The directive from the apex civil organisation of Senapati district came after a series of violent incidents took place since January 10 over a land dispute.
The office of the NPO, considering the gravity of the situation in the interest of maintaining peace, harmony and understanding within the community, prohibits all forms of aggression, unauthorised use of firearms and deadly tools or violence with immediate effect, it said.
It urged all the parties to respect the sanctity of peaceful coexistence and refrain from any action that could escalate tension. It warned that defaulters against the directive would face strict consequences.
