IW 2nd Division Football : Final league match result withheld

IMPHAL, Jan 14 : The crucial final league match of the 12th Second Division Football League organised by the Imphal West District Football Association ended amidst chaos today and the result has been withheld by the organising committee.
Title contenders SOYO, Sanjembam and MTSU were locked in a 2-2 draw till the end of the match but the organising committee had to withhold the result following " display of unsporting behaviour among the players" of the two sides.
SOYO could make top of the table finish as they are just 1 point behind table toppers SJC (10 points off 5 games) while MTSU, who were on 7 points off four matches, needed a big margin win to join the fray before today's match.
The winners are reportedly going to be decided based on the highest number of points gathered throughout the tournament and via head to head result in case the contending teams remain locked on the same points.
The organising committee is yet to disclose what course of action will be taken up against the teams in view of today's incident and who will be crowned the champions of the 6-team third-tier district level tournament.
