IMPHAL, Jan 13 : The indefinite bandh along SP Road imposed by the Koubru Range Liangmai Women Union has been relaxed for 72 hours from 12 pm of January 13 following the request of Leimakhong Area Protection Committee (LAPC) and Leimakhong Area Chief Organisation (LACO) on humanitarian ground.
According to a statement issued by Liangmai Naga Council, Eastern Zone (LNC-EZ) bearing the signatures of the representatives of LNC-EZ, LAPC, LACO, Koubru Range Liangmai Women Union and Eastern Liangmai Chiefs and Chairmen Association, this grace period has been provided as a time frame for those concerned to have the honour of taking responsibility to relinquish and surrender the culprits who physically assaulted a Liangmai Naga woman of Konsakhul Lungwiram village on January 7.
The statement cautioned that more stern and active demonstrations within Liangmai Naga inhabited areas will be initiated if the party concerned fails to hand over the perpetrators within the given time frame of 72 hours.
The shutdown relaxation was unanimously mandated by the LNC-EZ, Koubru Range Liangmai Women Union and Eastern Liangmai Chiefs and Chairmen Association.
