IMPHAL, Jan 13: The State Government has asked the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to reimburse the losses incurred by bulk LPG transporters on transporting LPG in bulk on NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway).
The Commissioner (Home) and representatives of the All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters Association (AMBTA) held a meeting this afternoon together with the Chief General Manager of IO-AOD, Guwahati.
IGP (Ops), CAF&PD Secretary, CAF&PD Director, IOCL Manipur State Level Coordinator and Chief Plant Manager of Sekmai LPG Bottling Plant were also present at the meeting held at Old Secretariat, South Block from 3 pm.
According to AMBTA president A Tamphayai, the Commissioner (Home) made a strong point that the IOCL ought to reimburse the losses incurred by bulk LPG transporters in the State.
The IOCL officials maintained that the matter needs deliberation with the higher authority at the Petroleum Ministry.
However, the State Government officials urged the IOCL officials to complete all the processes and paper works by January 31 and reimburse the losses incurred by the bulk LPG transporters, Tamphayai said.
The State Government officials also proposed another round of meeting on January 20 to review the progress achieved in the meantime.
As the meeting came to a tentative understanding on reimbursement of the losses incurred by bulk LPG transporters since May 2023, the issue of extortion was not discussed at length, Tamphayai said. He said that the bulk LPG transporters have been demanding reimbursement of Rs 20,000 per trip to bullet tankers with six wheels and Rs 30,000 per trip to bullet tankers with 12 wheels.
