KANGPOKPI, Jan 12: The Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) has appealed to Konsakhul villagers to lift the blockade on Churachandpur- Kangpokpi road immediately.
It has also warned that failure to lift the blockade will leave Konsakhul villagers accountable for any untoward incidents arising from the blockade.
COTU has strongly condemned the ongoing indefinite blockade imposed by Konsakhul villagers on the vital road connecting Churachandpur and Kangpokpi.
The road, a crucial lifeline for the Kuki-Zo community, has been rendered inaccessible due to a land dispute with Leilon Vaiphei village, it said.
In a statement, COTU described the blockade as "regrettable and entirely uncalled for," emphasizing its severe impact on the Kuki-Zo community.
Since the violent unrest of 3rd May 2023, the community has been striving to establish reliable connectivity among its regions.
This blockade, they claim, is an unjust disruption that exacerbates their struggles and poses a humanitarian crisis.
COTU has also called for unity and urged all parties concerned to prioritize peaceful resolution and humanitarian values in addressing disputes that may arise.
