5th Chandranadi Trophy Football Tourney begins

IMPHAL, Jan 12 : The fifth edition of Chandranadi Trophy, a 9-a-side village level open football tournament, got underway today at Haoreibi Kangjeibung under the theme " Brotherhood through Sportsmanship".
The tournament is jointly hosted by Haoreibi Northern Star Club and Haoreibi Apunba FC and as many as 24 teams clubbed into 8 groups are in the fray for the top honour.
The opening match (Group A) of the tournament saw co-hosts Haoreibi Apunba FC-A seal a narrow 1-0 win against Premika FC, Khurai.
The lone goal that settled the game was scored by Th Mask in the 37th minute after the two sides entered into the break goalless.
MIUFC, Mayang Imphal will play Karam FC in the Group-B opener tomorrow from 1.30 pm.
Haoreibi Apunba FC-B will play YDCL, Pungdongbam in the Group E opener in the second match of the day.
