DM College Alumni reach out to IDPs

IMPHAL, Jan 12 : A comprehensive health camp aimed at alleviating the suffering of the internally displaced persons reached the relief camp at Kumbi Awang High School today.
Organised by the Alumni DM College of Science 1996 XII and 1999 TDC Batch, the mega camp provided various health services to the locals, internally displaced persons including women and children of the relief camp.
Alumni member and JNIMS' Associate Professor Dr Irom Anil, and several others including State Health Services' Ophthalmologist Dr Brainy, JNIMS Senior Resident (Medicine) Dr Uthan, Dr Risikesh, Paediatrician Dr John, Dr Nirpendra, JNIMS' Junior Haematology Dr Mangalleibi, Dr Chelsia, Dr Nilkanta and others took part in the camp.
The camp assessed the health of more than 300 people including internally displaced persons and locals of the area.
The comprehensive health camp included eye screening
by doctors of Yaima Eye Hospital, and corrective glasses were given to patients free of cost.
Blood tests were conducted and prescribed medicines were given to patients.
During the camp, the alumni members and experts organised an awareness programme on financial literacy.
A camp was also organised by alumni member and MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) Technology Centre Imphal's Deputy Director, Dr Sinam Yoirentomba.
During the camp, the DM College of Science alumni members presented pens, books, toys, sports items and winter clothing to children of the relief camp.
52 school bags donated by Millennium School founder Moirangthem Momo Singh were also gifted to students at the camp.
Alumni member and JNIMS' Associate Professor Dr Irom Anil said the mega health camp was organised aimed at assessing the health and condition of the internally displaced persons at the relief camp and to provide them with all the necessary assistance.
He said the DM College of Science 1996 batch has organised several camps at different relief camps with the money and materials its members have donated.
In addition to providing medicines to internally displaced persons/patients, he said, the alumni members have also facilitated surgeries of patients in hospitals in Imphal.
The DM College of Science alumni will organise similar similar health camps in different locations, he said.
Kumbi Ideal Youth Development Organisation secretary N Shankar and locals appreciated the doctors and alumni members for organising the camp.
