Arms and ammunition recovered, two arrested at airport with Ganja

Security forces conducted search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts and recovered arms and ammunition from Old Gelmol Village, Churachandpur.
The recovered arms and ammunition include one AK-56 Rifle with one magazine, one .303 Rifle with one magazine, one 9mm Pistol country made with one magazine, one 12mm Single Barrel Rifle, three 12mm Single Barrel Rifles country made and one 36 Hand Grenade (Chinese origin).
Security forces also recovered two IEDs (approx 1 Kg) and one IED (approx 5 Kg) from Chavangphai and Govajang Village areas under Moreh-PS, Tengnoupal district, said Police Control Room.
Meanwhile, Manipur Police arrested two persons from Imphal Airport with suspected contraband Ganja weighing approximately 31.680 Kg. They have been identified as Rojit Chongtham (34) of Singjamei Mathak Chongtham Leikai at present staying at Tera Lukram Leikai, Imphal West district and Sarangthem Dingku Singh (25) of Kakching Khunou Thingnam Bokul Leikai, Kakching district.
Further, security forces ensured movement of 199 and 383 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively, said the Police Control Room.
