Manipur finish 19th Cadet National Fencing Championship with 7 medals

IMPHAL, Jan 11 : Manipur ended the 19th Cadet National Fencing Championship hosted by Uttarakhand with as many as 7 medals including 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
The final day of the championship saw Men's foil team and women's epee team settle respectively for a silver and a bronze medal.
The men's foil team comprising Kangabam Prithibiraj, Athokpam Henthoisana, Tenison Thokchom and Toijam Tamnganba went down 14-45 to Haryana team in the final to finish with a silver medal.
Meanwhile, the women's epee team comprising Ninthoujam Diviya, Minarba Yumnam, Guruaribam Keniya and Nongmeikapam Jotirika suffered a shock 43-44 loss to Haryana in a semi-final match to settle for the bronze medal.
Notably, Takhellambam Manganleibi bagged a gold medal in the individual foil competition while the other gold medal was bagged by the men's epee team comprising Sh Zenith, K Dronel, P Arjun and K Priyojit.
Earlier yesterday, the State women's foil team comprising Takhellambam Manganleibi, Laishom Thoithoi, Maibam Geetarani and Ngasepam Merina suffered a 39-45 loss to Haryana in the final match to bag a silver medal. The other bronze medallists in the meantime include K Prithibiraj in the individual foil competition and Sachin in the individual epee event.
