IMPHAL, Jan 11 : Manipur clinched the men's team event gold as women settled for a bronze medal in the ongoing 34th Senior National Sepaktakraw Championship.
The men's team defeated Delhi by 2-0 margin in the title clash today to emerge on top. The first regu opened the scoring with a 15-11, 15-13 win before the second regu sealed a 15-12, 12-15, 15-13 to make it 2-0.
Earlier in the semi-final, Manipur had defeated SSB 2-1 (6-15, 10-15; 17-16, 15-6; 15-11, 15-8) despite first regu setback.
Notably, Manipur had secured 3-0 wins against UP and hosts Telangana and suffered a 1-2 loss against Delhi in the league round.
Meanwhile, the women's team had to content with the bronze medal as they went down by 1-2 loss to SSB in the semi-final. Earlier in the league round, the women's team won 3-0 against Telangana and Haryana but suffered a 1-2 loss to Nagaland in the last league match.
The championship being underway at Hanumakonda Indoor Stadium, Warangal in Telangana will conclude on January 14.
