8th Elite Men's National Boxing Naothoi, Jackson and Henthoi box into semi-finals

IMPHAL, Jan 10 : Kangkham Naothoi, P Jackson and M Henthoi boxed their way into the semi-finals and assured themselves of a medal in the ongoing 8th Elite Men's National Boxing Championship.
The championship hosted by Uttar Pradesh in Bareily began on January 6 and will culminate on January 13.
Kangkham Naothoi sealed his place in the men's 50 kg category semi-final with a 5-0 unanimous decision victory against Marwin of Meghalaya in a quarterfinal bout today while P Jackson pulled off a similar win against Prazawal Zamawal of Jammu and Kashmir in a 55-kg category quarterfinal bout.
M Henthoi also sealed a 5-0 unanimous decision victory against Roshan Kumar of West Bengal in a 65 kg category quarter final clash.
It was however an unlucky day for the State trio of P Kingson, S Binodchandra and L Donoi as they suffered quarter final losses.
Kingson, participating in the 60 kg category, suffered a 0-5 unanimous decision loss against SSCB's Sachin while Binodchandra went by by 1-3 split decision loss to Hitesh Kumar of Dadra and Nagar Haveli in a 70-kg clash. L Doni in the meantime lost 1-4 to Satyam Singh of Andhra Pradesh in a 75-kg category match.
