Cadet Fencing Nationals Men's epee team extend gold medal haul

IMPHAL, Jan 10 : Manipur's medal haul in the 19th Cadet National Fencing Championship swelled to 2 gold, one silver and two bronze medals as the men's epee team clinched a gold medal today.
The men's epee team comprising Sh Zenith, K Dronel, P Arjun and K Priyojit defeated Haryana team 45-42 in the final match to seal the second gold medal for Manipur today.
Earlier on the opening day, T Manganleibi bagged a gold medal in the individual foil competition.
Meanwhile, the State women's foil team comprising Takhellambam Manganleibi, Laishom Thoithoi, Maibam Geetarani and Ngasepam Merina suffered a 39-45 loss to Haryana in the final match to settle for a silver medal today.
Yesterday, K Prithibiraj and Sh Zenith picked a bronze medal apiece. K Prithibiraj settled for the bronze medal in the individual foil competition with 10-15 loss to Sachin of Haryana in a semi-final match while Sh Zenith sealed the other bronze medal in the individual epee event with a 3-15 semi-final loss to Prabhakaran Singh of Haryana.
