Kuki militant groups in violence-wracked Manipur have a more organised struc-ture to create opinions in their favour and make themselves appear to be victims of exc sses by the Meitei community and the Government of India, top intelligence sources told CNN-News18 on Friday.
“Immediately after the drone bombings on a Meitei village on September 1, a memorandum was submitted to the President of India by Kukis with wrong facts,” said a source. “Kuki militant groups have mastered the art of weapons and technology and they are very clearly trained outside India by some foreign power.”
These Kuki groups are fully aware of security gaps in the system including military access, said the sources.
“Their approach towards creating wrong history is also known as they have given a factually incorrect memorandum to the President yesterday,” a source said. “Kukis in their memorandum stated that they are freedom fighters and fought against the British in 1860 and World War 1, which is absolutely incorrect.”
In their claims in the memorandum, they have shown that they worked with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose during World War 2, which is also wrong, said the sources.
“They have also given absolutely wrong data on displacement and church destruction. According to agencies, the reverse of this data is more accurate,” a source said. “They are smart like other militant groups and similar to Lashkar-e-Taiba, where they are running charitable organisations and use ambulances to carry trained terrorists to the border.”
Sources said that in the name of climate change, the Kuki groups have collected huge sums of money and are using that to buy drones and sophisticated weapons.
