IMPHAL, Sep 7: The Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India (MSC-CPI) and many others have vehemently condemned the killing of innocent civilians in Kuki militants' terror attacks.
Since September 1, Kuki militants have launched several terror attacks using drones and long range rockets in different parts of Manipur including Koutruk, Senjam Chirang, Moirang and Jiribam.
A long range rocket fired at a densely populated area at Moirang yesterday killed a 70-year-old identified as RK Rabei.
Today, Kuki militants infiltrated a village in Jiribam and shot dead a sleeping person, identified as Yurembam Phulendro, a farmer.
These heinous crimes and terror attacks on civilians are results of a failed governance. Even when violence has taken a new and dangerous form, the Centre and the State Government have not yet acted and cracked down on Kuki militants. The double engine Government is not seen taking any actions, said MSC-CPI.
Even when Kuki militants have used advanced drones and rockets to bombard and kill civilians, the security forces aren't seen conducting combing operations in the hills and seizing these weapons, it added.
The advanced drones and the long range rockets being used by the Kuki militants can reach almost all targets in Imphal including Raj Bhavan, CM Bungalow etc. Installing a few anti-drone guns and signal jammers may protect high ranking officials and Ministers, but people will be left vulnerable to attacks, it said.
When civilians have been targeted and are suffering for more than 16 months, the MLAs and Ministers in the Government aren't seen seeking the attention of the Prime Minister and knocking on his door. They should muster courage and strength to seriously knock on the PM's door, it added.
The Manipur Loumi Lup, Moirang Local Council-Communist Party of India and Indigenous Development Mission too have vehemently condemned the attacks on civilians.
