Thawai Mirel points finger at Delhi

IMPHAL, Sep 8 : The Thawai Mirel has accused the Government of India of letting the violence in Manipur to spiral out of control and exposing the people to deadly attacks.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, Thawai Mirel co-convenor P Sanahanbi said that security forces deploying drone jammers instead of cracking down on Kuki militants even after Meetei civilians were killed in a series of aerial bombings and a missile attack is like responding to a complaining child.
On the claim that China and the United States are indirectly involved in the Manipur crisis, she said that it is the Indian Government which is answerable to the people of Manipur.
This is not a question of the adversarial force attacking Meeteis with the support of the United States or China as it is India which is at fault and doing nothing to safeguard the lives and properties of the people of Manipur, Sanahanbi asserted.
Condemning the inaction of the Government even after Meeteis are being attacked by 'Kuki terrorists' using sophisticated weapons like drones and missiles, she said that whatever the security forces have been doing is like responding to a complaining child or distributing mosquito nets during a malaria outbreak instead of killing the vectors.
The conduct of Central forces in strife torn Manipur only exposes that the Government has a hand in keeping the State on the boil, Sanahanbi said and asked whether the hardship the people of Manipur have been enduring all these months is the price of their contribution to the Nation.
She appealed to all the indigenous people of Manipur, political parties and civil society organisations to unite and build a collective force to safeguard the State and her people.
