Kuki militants attack Jiri again

IMPHAL, Sep 8 : Kuki militants attacked  Jiribam for the second day on the trot by bombarding and firing upon Mongbung Meitei village from the neighbouring Kuki village in the border district today.
There is no report of any injury.
The attack was launched  from Mongbung Kuki  village at around 4.45 am by well armed Kuki militants using sophisticated weapons.
Village volunteers also returned fire and the gunfight lasted for about an hour.
It is reported that the Kuki militants fired multiple bombs and tried to advance towards the Meetei village.
The Kuki militants attacked the same Meetei village in the evening at around 5.15 again and a gunfight ensued after the village volunteers and security forces retaliated.  
Reinforcements of security forces have rushed to the spot.
Another source said that Kuki militants fired some rounds of bullets towards Sugnu from Laloiphai Kuki village in the morning today but no one was injured in the attack. Security forces are on high alert in Sugnu areas, added the source.
One found dead : An unknown man was found dead on Imphal River bank near Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak, Imphal West at around 3.45 pm on September 7 at around 3.45 pm.  
Even as police evacuated the man to RIMS Hospital, the doctor declared him brought dead.
Subsequently, the body was deposited at RIMS mortuary.
The deceased is of medium build, is five feet and has wheatish complexion, round face and black hair.
He was wearing a long sleeve shirt (blue and white), one T-shirt (white), one undergarment (grey), one jean (light wash), one belt (fabric) and a pair of slippers (sandal).
