IMPHAL, Sep 7: The Pambei-led UNLF has paid revolutionary salute to MPA Sergeant Bachaspa-timayum Heithoiba alias Lakshikumar who made supreme sacrifice when facing well armed Kuki terrorists at Jiribam today.
Sergeant Heithoiba was the eldest of three sons of B Samson and Prama of Jiribam Dibong Khunou.
He left behind a wife and three daughters. The youngest of the daughters is only 6 month-old.
Heithoiba was born on October 10, 1986. He joined the Pambei-led UNLF in 2002 and passed out as a member of MPA's 24th batch on September 5, 2002.
He was posted with the 292 Bn also known as MTF from 2002 to 2005.
He was young and fearless. During his time with the 292 Bn, he fought valiantly in many battles against Indian military forces, said the group.
In 2005, he was transferred to the 242 Bn and then to 293 Bn in 2006.
When he was in the 293 Bn, he fearlessly faced Indian military forces in their Operation Somtal-I and Operation Somtal-II launched against MPA in Chandel district, said the Pambei-led UNLF.
Later in 2011, he was then transferred to the MPA's 291 Bn in Eastern Nagaland, it added.
Recently, Sgt Heithoiba was posted in Jiribam and he had been performing duties assigned to him as an MPA, it said.
When Kuki-Zo terrorists armed with assault rifles from outside Manipur infiltrated Jiribam and shot dead an innocent person at Jiribam today morning, Sgt Heithoiba led a team and immediately pursued the enemies, said the outfit.
The team, under the command of Sgt Heithoiba, successfully mounted a counter-attack on the enemy at Chingchappi under Jiribam district.
When the team further pursued the enemy force for a second wave of counterattack, an ambush wounded and killed Heithoiba on spot at around 9.30 am.
He was a well mannered, brave and fearless soldier of the MPA who was diligent and dedicated to his duties. The MPA and the organisation is proud that it got him as a soldier. His bravery and sacrifice will be remembered, said the Pambei-led UNLF.
Apart from saluting the departed sou, the shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members.
