SENPATI, Sep 4: The Senapati–Phaibung (SP) Road Development Committee has sought the intervention of  Naga People’s Organization (NPO), the apex civil organization in Senapati district, to complete the neglected NLCPR project –road construction work.
In a letter to the NPO, Committee president N Benjamin Tao and secretary Wilson Pao Th said that the road construction work was awarded to 25 BRTF by the Government of Manipur in 2001 with funding pattern of 90% by the Central and 10% by the State Government. This was done in the presence of the 18 adjacent villages’ chairmen, secretary and headmen with an MoU agreement for the betterment of the construction agency and the road without any interference from any corners.
Though 25 BRTF started the work from 2002, even after 21 years the road has not been completed nor any repairing done till date by the construction agency 25 BRTF nor by the Manipur Government, said the letter.
Repeated requests by the 18 villages to expedite the road construction have fallen on deaf ears, said the Committee letter.
Additionally, the Committee alleged that instead of releasing the 10% State share, the Joint Secretary (Work) has directed the Chief Engineer, PWD to take over the construction of uncompleted road from 25 BRTF without any information to the Committee and the 18 villages. Thus, it has sought the help of NPO to bring justice to the delayed and neglected developmental project.
