Sub-Jr Girls' NFC Tier I Manipur beat Haryana in five goal thriller

IMPHAL, Sep 2 : Manipur pulled off a 3-2 win over Haryana in their Group A opening match of the Sub-Junior Girls' National Football Championship 2024-25 Tier I at Berhampore Stadium this afternoon.
Manipur girls started confidently and eased to 3-1 lead at half time before overcoming Haryana's spirited fightback to seal the game 3-2.
Yaiphaba Thokchom broke the deadlock two minutes into the game before Nidhi helped Haryana pull level in the 27th minute. Thoudam Malemnganbi however retained the lead for Manipur after 40 minutes before Julan Nongmaithem scored three minutes into the added time before the break to make it 3-1.
After the restart, Haryana fought back and managed to pull back a goal through Revika in the 56th minute but Manipur defenders thwarted all moves to draw level and saw out the game 3-2.
Manipur will face Tamil Nadu in the next match on September 4 at the same venue. The match begins at 9 am.
