Families of abducted youths plead for rescue

Thoubal, Sep 29 : Even as one of the three youths  who was abducted by Kuki militants while they were enroute to Kethelmanbi on September 27 has reportedly been rescued, the other two have been taken hostage by Kuki militants.
All three of them viz Oinam Thoithoi (26), s/o Yaima; Ningombam Johnson (25) s/o Sanjoy and Thokchom Thoithoiba (27), s/o Ibotombi are residents of Thoubal Khekman and they went to New Keithelmanbi where recruitment drive of SSC (General Duty) was held together in a motorcycle.
They, however, took a wrong route and ended up venturing at Motbung side which has become unsafe for Meeteis to traverse.
The bike as well as the mobile phones (found switched off  at around 3 pm of September 27) of three of them are also still not found.
Johnson was rescued yesterday and he was handed over to his family this evening.
Meanwhile, a public meeting was convened today at Thoubal Khekman Leishangthem Awang Leikai and a couple of resolutions were adopted.
At the meeting, families of the three youths appealed to the Government to trace and rescue their children.
They also appealed to the abductors to release their children safely.
Speaking to the media, convenor of the JAC concerned L Subol appealed to all civil society organisations and the public to help rescue the two youths who have been abducted by Kuki militants.
The resolutions which were taken during the meeting are to be submitted as a memorandum to the Governor and the Chief Minister to rescue Oinam Thoithoi and Thokchom Thoithoiba  who have been held hostage by Kuki militants and to seek the help of civil society organisations in tracing the whereabouts of the two youths.
