IDP Gymnast L Kiranbala feted

Lamlong Higher Secondary School, Imphal East today felicitated one of school's promising student Laiphrakpam Kiranbala Devi who won two medals at the recently concluded 42nd State Level Gymnastics Championship.
Notably, Kiranbala, daughter of Laiphrakpam Ibochou and Laiphrakpam Chinchin, is an internally displaced child originally from Shanti Veng in Kangpokpi and presently taking shelter at Lamboikhongnangkhong Relief Camp following the outbreak of the ethnic clash in May last year.
The felicitation programme was attended by MW Tharawon, Principal of Lamlong Higher Secondary School; M Vidyapati, Vice Principal and T Shantibala Devi, Asst Head Mistress as presidium members, said Lamlong Higher Secondary School in a press release.
L Kiranbala, who is now reading in Class VI at the school, took up gymnastic last year and went on to represent Manipur in an event held at Delhi this year in july before finishing second and third in two different events in the 42nd State Level Gymnastics Championship held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium. She not only won two medals but also finished overall second in her category, it said.
In recognition of her achievements, she was presented a certificate during the felicitation programme held this afternoon at the school premises in the presence of students and teaching staff of the school, it said.
A cash incentive was also presented to Kiranbala's father as an encouragement to her. The school also extended best wishes to her to achieve more in her future endeavours, the release continued.
