CM inaugurates

Imphal, Sep 26 (DIPR): Chief Minister N Biren Singh virtually inaugurated two branches of the Manipur State Co-operative Bank Ltd (MSCB) at the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister's Secretariat today.
At the programme, the Chief Minister stated that many people have been affected and some are forced to take refuge in  relief camps due to the unprecedented crisis in the State .
Emphasising on the need of the bank to extend every possible support to the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) on priority, the Chief Minister maintained that some Nationalised banks were not able to provide loans to the people due to their strict lending norms.
Lauding the officials of MSCB, he pointed out that the bank being flexible in its lending norms has been providing soft loans to the poor and needy persons and IDPs taking refuge in relief camps.
He expressed hope that the bank will extend all possible help to the fish farmers affected by the recent floods.
The Chief Minister appreciated the MSCB bank for 'their unwavering support' at the grass root level specially supporting around 1195 women Self Help Groups (SHG) and having extended collateral free credit worth around Rs 17 crore (around Rs 15 crore under Start up scheme etc.
He appealed to the borrowers to inculcate good financial discipline to easily avail loans from banks.
He hoped that the newly opened bank branches would provide better financial services at the grassroots.
The programme was also attended by MANIDCO Chairman Kongkham Robindro Singh, Moirang MLA Th Shanti Singh, Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, NABARD officials, and officials of the MSCB.
