IMPHAL, Sep 26 : A group of landless  people has urged the Government to allow  them to settle at the khasland at Leitambi Loukol in Bamon Kampu on humanitarian ground.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, one Premjit Waikhom said that  they and and some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Serou started preparing to settle at the khasland after taking due approval from Bamon Kampu Lai Committee and two local clubs viz PYC and EYW.
Saying that they have also met Imphal East Deputy Commissioner Diana Khumanthem over the matter, he added that they are awaiting an allotment order to be issued by relevant authority.
The local clubs don't object to them wanting to settle at the khasland, he said and added it is only some farmers who disapprove the undertaking.
A woman from Serou who has been taking refuge at Lamboikhongnangkhong also appealed to all concerned to allow them to settle at the khasland at Leitambi Loukol.
