BOB gold heist: Police make 5th arrest

IMPHAL, Sep 25: A fifth arrest has been made in connection with the looting of gold worth around Rs 4 crore  from the Bank of Baroda, Manipur University Branch on September 12.
The latest accused arrested has been identified as Laishram Ratan, son of Mahajon of Khangbok Awang Leikai, a former Branch Manager.
Laishram Ratan was the Branch Manager from November 25, 2021 to June 1, 2024.
He has been taken into 3 days police remand while the four arrested earlier in the case have been remanded to 6 more days.
The four arrested earlier are Senior Branch Manager  Ganga Ningombam of Kakching Makha Leikai, Gold Manager Khaidem Jackiechand of Khurkhul Makha Leikai, Garry Moirangthem of Thongju Part II and Akoijam Renash  of Ningombam Awang Leikai.
They were produced before the Duty Magistrate Imphal West late this evening after completion of police custody period.
Laishram Ratan has been remanded to police custody till September 27.
The four others have been remanded to police custody till September 30.
