National Service Scheme Day observed

IMPHAL, Sep 24 : The State NSS Cell, Manipur observed the 55th National Service Scheme (NSS) Day at the Indoor Stadium of Khuman Lampak, today.
Speaking as the chief guest at the function, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister  Govindas Konthoujam said that the National Service Scheme is an undertaking of the Central Government which aims to   develop moral value and a sense of National integrity among the students through voluntary community service.
Govindas expressed hope that NSS will play a pivotal role in building good moral character in children.
The Minister, meanwhile, said that the YAS Department understands the inconvenience being faced by sports persons and athletes of the State due to the crisis in Manipur.
Saying that the YAS Department has been helping the local sports persons in travelling to other countries and States to attend different competitions amid the unrest, Govindas appealed to all the local sports persons to meet the YAS Director if they have any problem in preparing for international or National championships.
YAS Director T Phulen Meitei and Vice Chancellor of Manipur University of Culture Prof P Gunindro also attended the programme.
