IMPHAL, Sep 22 : The Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association (MHGEWA) has said that they were compelled to take legal help to address their grievances as the Government did not give equal benefit to them as other Government employees.
Speaking to the media at Luwangsangbam today, MHGEWA president Y Mangi said that the failure of the Government to draft a seniority list and promotion guidelines for the Home guard personnel seriously affect them.
He also said the Home Guard personnel don't get their Dearness Allowance (DA) in full apart from not getting ration money.
He went to say that the authority concerned doesn't keep a proper record of the Home Guard personnel and it is one of the major factors why they don't get benefits at par with other Government employees.
Saying that a Committee was constituted in 2016 to look into their grievances and they asked the  authority concerned to submit a report regarding the matter within 15 days, he added that the Committee however has not taken up any action to resolve the issue till data.
Further stating that they were compelled to  file a petition before the High Court of Manipur as the Government failed to do their part, Mangi added that the High Court had on September 19 directed the Committee to appoint their required members and take up necessary actions within three months to resolve the issue.
He thanked the High Court for the directive.
