Kuki militants rain bullets, bombs

IMPHAL, Sep 21: With bombs and bullets, Kuki   militants once again attacked Mongbung Meitei village, Jiribam.
Taking positions at neighbouring Mongbung Kuki village and Seijang village, Kuki militants attacked Mongbung Meitei village at around 9 pm on Friday.
The attack continued throughout the night with intermittent gaps of few minutes.
The attack continued till early this morning.    
Security personnel deployed at the village and village volunteers guarding the village retaliated by firing toward Mongbung Kuki village and Seijang village to prevent the Kuki militants from advancing toward Mongbung Meitei village.
Kuki militants fired uncountable numbers of bombs and bullets toward the Mei-tei village throughout the night.
Compelled by the fierce attack from Kuki militants, the villagers fled from the spot and took shelter at safer places. There is no report of any injuries on the side of the security personnel and the village volunteers.
Sources said that there might be some casualties on the side of the Kuki militants in retaliatory firing by security personnel.
With the Kuki militants repeatedly attacking Mongbung Meitei village in the past few days, particularly at night, security forces deployed in the area have been put on high alert, said the sources.
