IMPHAL, Sep 21 : The Liangmai Naga Council Manipur (LNCM) has written to Chief Minister N Biren Singh with an appeal to place  Liangmai people scattered across five different constituencies viz; Kangpokpi, Tadubi, Tamenglong, Tamei and Saikul under one constituency.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club today, LNCM vice president Ch Wisobou said that scattering Liangmai people across different ACs has led to marginalisation of the indigenous tribe.
He appealed to the Chief Minister to take up necessary initiatives to place them under one constituency to protect their political rights.
Wisobou said that they have aired the grievances of Liangmai people living in Koubru range to the  previous Governments on multiple occasions but to no avail.
Saying that they, however, appreciate the initiative  taken up by the incumbent Chief Minister for the welfare of the Liangmai tribe, he  added that N Biren announced a developmental programme during a Go to Hill 2.0 event held on October 22, 2021 at Konsakhul, Kangpokpi district and the same has benefited the Liangmai  people living in Koubru range.
He said that they are thankful to the Chief Minister for building  a market shed at Makhan, a football ground at Konsakhul, Makui PHSC, Langka PHSC and Bena Akut PHSC apart from giving  benefits of a Government housing scheme to the people.
Wisobou further said that the Government has taken up a programme to build a 23 Km long road stretch from Leimakhong to Langka under PMGSY.
He appealed to the Government to complete the road construction work as soon as possible.
Meanwhile , Wisobou said that the protracted crisis in Manipur has taken a heavy toll on every community living in the State and urged the Government to work out a solution to the crisis and restore normalcy in the State.
