MBC Secretaries' conference a testament to Manipur Christian unity, says MBC prez

Ukhrul, Sep 21: The annual Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) Secretaries' Conference 2024 is a testament to the unity among the Manipur Christian community as one family of God, declared Rev Dr Mathotmi Vasha, president, MBC.
He made the remark during the second day of the three-day MBC Secretaries' Conference 2024 hosted by Phungyo Baptist Church under the aegis of Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA).
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the MBC is composed of Meitei, Naga, Kuki and Gorkha/Nepalis communities of the State and is constantly preaching the words of God on peaceful coexistence of all communities irrespective of tribes and castes.
There are 30 Baptist Associations from different tribes of Manipur who are affiliated with the MBC and are relentlessly working and praying for  peace in the State, he added.
Vasha said the annual conference was aimed at creating a common fellowship to share experiences of working in the field in order to streamline policies on strengthening the relationship of all communities and to show their oneness in Christ.
Meanwhile, Rev K Losii Mai, general secretary, MBC and Dr Wungramthan Shongzan, Director TTA; Rev T Karang Maram, Director, Peace and Development MBC and Rev Raimi Rimai, secretary, Youth and Education, MBC were present as main speakers of the conference.
When this correspondent interacted with some of the delegates from other districts, they said they were blessed to have taken part in worship services in the first established church of Manipur 'Phungyo Baptist Church' popularly known as the Mother church of Manipur, located at Tangrei, Ukhrul. The delegates have also visited some of the historic sites such as Ngayira, where the first baptism was held and the mini museum.
The MBC Secretaries' Conference which began on September 20 will end on Sunday with  daily worship service, consultation programme, display of special artistic work and entertainment.
