Training workshop on artisanship concludes

Ukhrul, Sep 21: A three-day training workshop on "Artisanship & Traditional Skill to Empower Youth & Students" concluded today at Phalee village in Ukhrul district.
The training which began on September 19 was organized by HaoYar Group in partnership with Phalee Youth Organisation (PYO) and sponsored by Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Imphal.
The workshop was organised under the theme 'Redefining traditional ideas for livelihood'.
The closing function was attended by Dr RA Ransing (MSS), Deputy Secretary Tribal Affairs & Hills, Govt of Manipur; Ramnganing Zimik (MFS), Chief Finance Officer, TAH/TRI Manipur while Themsem R Shimrei BFA, Sculptor/Fine Arts demonstrated his art and talent using clay and wood as mediums.
Additionally traditional craftsman A Ngaranshang taught how to make traditional baskets while S Mosang, S Ramthar and S Tongtong enlightened the participants on the process of making winnowing trays.
Over 130 students from 3 schools and youths of the village participated in the workshop.
It might be mentioned that HaoYar Group is a registered society with objectives to promote the traditional arts, folklore and folk songs and other culture related activities.
