Lt Col Robert TA Memorial Badminton Tournament from September 23

In its continuous efforts to promote the vibrant culture of sports and fitness among the local populace, the Indian Army, under Op Sadbhavana, is organizing the Lt Col Robert TA Memorial Badminton Tournament at Rikhumai Indoor Badminton Hall in Senapati district  from September 23 to 27.
Lt Col Robert TA was the first Maram Naga to be commissioned in the Engineer Regiment of Indian Army as an officer in 2004. The officer made the supreme sacrifice on  May 14, 2020 while  leading a snow clearance expedition team clearing an avalanche in North Sikkim .  
The tournament will feature various categories, including singles, doubles, and mixed doubles for men and women across multiple age groups, ranging from under 11 to over 60 years.
The inaugural ceremony, scheduled for September 23, will be attended by Chingpai Rangnamei, wife of late Lt Col Robert, along with other dignitaries, including senior Indian Army officers.
The event will also showcase cultural performances, a parade of participants and badminton matches. This initiative aims to foster a sense of community, sportsmanship, and fitness among the youth and residents of the Senapati district, said PIB Defence Wing in a press release.
