IMPHAL, Sep 21 : The 18 hour bandh  imposed by National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) against the alleged forceful merger agreement disrupted normal life in the valley districts. There, however, was no report of any unwanted incident taking place during the bandh.
The bandh which began from midnight was imposed against the signing of the controversial “Merger Agreement” between Maharaja Bodhchandra and the Government of India in 1949. All the major markets of the State's capital which include three Khwairamband Keithel, temporary market shed, Paona and Thangal Keithel were closed for the day.
Petrol pumps, educational institutions both government and private were also closed while transport vehicles remained off the road during the 18 hours shut down. Police in large numbers were deployed at important junctions in Imphal.
