World Alzheimer’s Day observed

IMPHAL, Sep 21 : Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal today observed World Alzheimer's Day at the Old Age Home cum Day Care Centre, Mongsangei, Imphal West.
It was attended by Dr S Gogendra Singh, HOD, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Rims, Imphal and Sanamacha Singh, general secretary, Old Age Home as the chief guest & guest of honour respectively.
During the event, a team from RIMS, Imphal team consisting of psychiatrist, nurses, psychiatric social workers and other staff donated essential food items and nursery plants to the Old Age Home.
A General Health Camp was also conducted wherein free health examination & consultation were provided to about 16 inmates of the Old Age Home.
Free medicines were also distributed to the patients.
Moreover, Indian Psychiatric Society, Manipur State Branch and Department of Psychiatry, JNIMS, Porompat also jointly celebrated World Alzheimer's Day 2024 at JNIMS, Porompat on the theme, "Time to Act on Dementia, Time to Act on Alzheimer".
It was graced by Dr Khumukcham Lokeshwar, Medical Superintendent, JNIMS; Dr Koijam Shantibala Devi, Head, Department of Psychiatry, JNIMS and president, Indian Psychiatric Society, Manipur State Branch; Dr S Gyaneshwar Sharma, former Head, Department of Psychiatry, JNIMS and Dr S Manikanta, Director, National Health Mission as presidium members.
