Eviction drive launched

SENAPATI, Sep 19 : An eviction drive was carried out at Taphou Liangmai in Senapati district since early Thursday morning in compliance with an order issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer, Senapati.
The drive was carried out in the presence of Lunguiba Thangal, MCS, SDO, Senapati along with officials from District Revenue Department, NHIDCL officials, District Police and district CSO leaders.
Eviction of encroachment within the Right of Way (ROW) of NH-2 with structures such as houses, boundary fences or walls, roof structures of houses, storage of items, goods, materials, bricks, sand, wood, iron bar, bamboo, etc for commercial or private use, encroachment on cross drains or side drains along the NH-2 section were carried out.
Notably, the eviction process was initiated after proper warning was given to all owners/residents of properties along the section from Taphou Liangmai to Karong to remove such encroachments along the highway so as to avoid forceful eviction before September 19.
The eviction drive is likely to continue on Friday.
