The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is an important tool to control infiltration with rampant demography changes happening in many of India’s border districts, top intelligence sources told CNN-News18 on Wednesday.
“Border\ districts have the maximum madarsas. Land is transferred through gift deeds. NRC is important so that the Central Government can use powers to send these infiltrators back,” said a source.
Funding is coming from various Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries to build madarsas and facilities for these so-called “poor Muslims”, the sources said.
“They identify land which is close to border areas and build Mosques and madarsas. In the step after infiltration, these people are kept in these madarsas and they stay here for long. In the meantime, their touts contact them and these touts arrange their papers, including Aadhaar cards,” said a source. “Once they have these papers, these touts start dealing with other agents in States like West Bengal, Assam, and Jharkhand.”
According to the sources, as Assam has now adopted stringent steps to tackle these demography change operations, the focus has shifted to Jharkhand.
“These people are taken to Jharkhand and the women are used for prostitution work,” a source said. “Local politicians also avail of these facilities and gradually the infiltrators are allowed to stay and establish themselves. For local politicians, this is an advantage because these same people out of fear and insecurity keep voting for them.”
These politicians, agents, and madarsa maulvis work together, the sources said, adding that some politicians in Jharkhand managed to transfer tribal lands to these infiltrators through land gift deeds.
According to intelligence sources, every year thousands of young Bangladeshi children and youths (especially women) are being smuggled into Indian territory via numerous human trafficking networks.
Liberal grant of visas to Bangladeshis for medical, tourism, and shopping purposes is another loophole, they said.
“Numerous businesses of these Bangladeshis have come up in West Bengal, which are illegal but have the help of the state administration,” said a source.
Massive drugs, arms, and cattle smuggling businesses flourish near the borders and so some people may cross over temporarily or permanently to engage in these activities, the sources said.  News 18
