Cleanliness drive held at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, Sep 20: As a part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2024, the CMO Office, Ukhrul conducted a cleanliness drive from Old Hospital Kamphasom to the main road of Ukhrul town.
Speaking by the sideline of the drive, Dr Kapangring, CMO, Ukhrul conveyed that the Medical Department is also one of the concerned stake holders in keeping the town environment clean.
In order to get rid of the harmful pollutants scattered in and around the town, the medical staff has pledged themselves to devote 2 hours each every Friday for social work and to clean the town areas to achieve the target of a garbage free town.
The Department has made its annual plan of utilizing the 100 hours dedicated time to cover the entire District Headquarters by engaging in social work and awareness campaigns, he added.
Saying that cleanliness begins from home, he maintained that is why the two hours social work began from the CMO's Office covering 100 metres in distance.
The CMO further mentioned that the staff were divided into four groups, separately assigned for collection of plastic waste, clearing drainage,  filling and levelling of road while some staff were tasked for mass awareness campaign to educate the residents of the areas in order to keep the surrounding clean through the Public Address system ( PA) during the social work programme.
Over 100 staff participated in the cleanliness drive to show their support for the cleanliness movement under Swachhta Hi Seva programme organised by Ukhrul District Health Services.
