Keyboard warrior gets bail

IMPHAL, Sep 19 : The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has granted bail to Angom Surajkumar, a 35 year old man who was arrested on the charge of posting a series of derogatory statements on Facebook.
The bail was approved after the accused executed a PR bond amounting Rs 50,000.
Accused Angom Surajkumar (35), s/o (L) Bijoykumar of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai was produced by Imphal police station on completion of his police custody period.
The accused is a social media influencer/ digital creator having around 30 thousand followers.
The defence counsel, on the other hand, filed a remand objection and sought bail for the accused.
The IO of the case through APP submitted that the Officer-in- Charge of Imphal police station came across a series of derogatory statements on social media insulting the Chief Minister on September 11.
As per the IO, one of the posts read “Before the internet is banned, I would like to say something, baldhead, gay boy and you are not even fit to wear panty.”
On the same night, the accused further posted two more posts saying “Do we inform the people for resignation, what is the difference saying I am committing suicide, please stop me” and “Send Bee Rain to Japan instead”
The IO said that derogatory statements posted by the accused and those comments on the post provoke the general public to escalate the ongoing crisis in Manipur apart from insulting the Chief  Minister.
The accused has reportedly accepted the charges levelled against him.
The Court on perusal of the material on record and after hearing the submission of APP and defence counsel granted bail to the accused.
