IMPHAL, Sep 19 : The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has warned the Government of India against delaying border fencing works selectively in Kuki dominated areas.
The COCOMI and the people of Manipur would conclude that the Manipur crisis is a deliberate machination of the Government of India and adopt strong resolutions if the border fencing works in Kuki dominated areas are not started immediately and all Assam Rifles units are not withdrawn from Manipur completely.
The Modi 3.0 Government completed its first 100 days on September 17.
Commemorating completion of the first 100 days, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced certain measures taken up by the Government of India with respect to the Manipur crisis.
In the backdrop of Amit Shah’s announcement, certain sections of the media reported that border fencing work in a few areas where the Kuki population resides will be done later while fencing work will continue in other parts of the Indo-Myanmar border.
The decision of the Central Government to stall border fencing work in Kuki dominated areas is absurd and defies logic, the COCOMI remarked in a statement.
There is ample, undeniable evidence that immigrant Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists who infiltrated into Manipur through the unfenced border and Kuki dominated areas are deeply involved in the war against the Meitei population. Neither the Government of India nor the State Government can feign ignorance of this  evidence, it said.
The Government of India must prioritise the Kuki dominated border areas. The Central Government must take up effective measures to bring the Manipur crisis to an end in accordance with the collective wish of the people.
The Central Government must drive out all the illegal immigrants and the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists from the soil of Manipur and those border areas inhabited by Kukis must be fenced first, the COCOMI asserted.
The Government of India’s decision to complete the border fencing work in Naga inhabited areas first is absurd and illogical, it remarked.
Its decision to delay border fencing work in Kuki inhabited areas and carry on the same work in other areas testifies that the Government of India has no intention to bring the Manipur crisis to an end anytime soon, the COCOMI said.
It said that the Government of India’s alleged proxy war strategies aimed at disintegrating Manipur and undermining the Meitei community are becoming clearer and clearer.
If the Government of India sees the people of Manipur as genuine citizens of India, it must withdraw its decision of delaying the border fencing work in Kuki inhabited areas. Instead, it must start the border fencing at the Kuki inhabited areas immediately, the COCOMI said.
Implementation of NRC and deportation of illegal immigrants can certainly pave a way for resolving the Manipur crisis.
But the Government of India has been focusing on illogical and contradictory measures which only exposes that the Government of India has been conspiring to sustain the crisis, it alleged.
There has been much evidence of the involvement of Assam Rifles in the Manipur crisis and their collusion with the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists, alleged COCOMI and added this is the reason why the people of Manipur have vehemently demanded withdrawal of all AR units from Manipur, it said.
Although 9th AR and 22nd AR have been withdrawn, other units still remain in Manipur, the COCOMI said.
It then urged the Government of India to withdraw all Assam Rifles units from Manipur and start the border fencing work in Kuki inhabited areas immediately.
