Arms recovered

IMPHAL, Sep 1 : Security forces recovered a variety of arms, ammunition and explosives including a sniper rifle from Gelmol village in Churachandpur today.
Similar operation was also carried out at Wangoo in Kakching district and more arms and ammunition were recovered.
The operation at Gelmol was carried out by Bishnupur commandos along with a Central force and they recovered a cache of arms and ammunition.
The recovered items include one CMG carbine, one AK Rifle with an empty magazine, one sniper rifle, one revolver, two tube launchers, two hand grenades, one empty magazine of INSAS LMG, two detonators, eight 9mm live rounds, four .303 live rounds, seven live rounds of AK Rifle, three high density cartridges (.303), nine tear smoke shells, one bulletproof helmet, two bulletproof jackets with two plates, one empty tear smoke munition box and one WT set marked as "UV-5R".
The recovered items have been handed over to Moirang police station. Meanwhile, the operation at Wangoo Yellangba Hill area in Kakching was carried out by Kakching commandos along with the Central force and they recovered one double barrel gun, one single barrel gun, three hand grenades, one detonator, two helmets, four smoke grenades, one IED and 30 empty cartridge cases. A case has been registered at Wangoo police station.
