IBSD celebrates Himalayan Diwas

Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, celebrated Himalayan Diwas by organising a seminar on "Importance of Himalaya and the need for its conservation" today.
The seminar was attended by many scientists and research scholars of IBSD, Imphal, said a release issued by IBSD, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director, IBSD highlighted various initiatives of IBSD for connecting Eastern and Western Himalaya to develop bioeconomy from bioresources.
He also elaborated on the importance of Himalayan Diwas and the activities taken up by IBSD for the conservation and sustainable utilization of bioresources of Eastern Himalaya.
Dr Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director, CSIR-IHBT, Palampur highlighted various initiatives of the institute for conservation in Western Himalaya.
Dr Rajan Kumar Kotru, Chief Technical Advisor, Indo-German Programme elaborated on the various policies for the development of Indian Himalayan Region.
Dr T Brajakumar Singh, Director, Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur also enlightened the gathering about the various initiatives of the department for the conservation of bioresources and climate change.
Prof Anil Joshi, founder, HESCO, Uttarakhand, also spoke on the occasion.
