Awareness cum blood donation, medical camp held

IMPHAL, Aug 29 : An Awareness cum Blood Donation Camp was conducted at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Imphal today.
The camp was organised by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Imphal West District Branch in collaboration with Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS and supported by State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC) and NHM Manipur.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya who is also the president of Red Cross Society, Manipur, presided over the event and encouraged the donors to continue donating blood to save lives.
The Governor appreciated the work done by the IRCS, Manipur and urged them to continue their commendable work for the betterment of the society.
The Governor also presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the IRCS, Imphal West District Branch for their exemplary organisation and execution of Awareness cum Voluntary Blood Donation Camps.
The certificate was jointly received by vice-chairman Kh Jadu and secretary of IRCS, Imphal West District Branch, Dr Bankimchandra Thokchom.
Another Certificate of Appreciation was also given to Dr Rachandra, Head, Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS in recognition of his commendable work in organising Awareness cum Blood Donation Camp.
Altogether, 80 units of blood were collected from 80 donors (63 male, 17 female) during the camp.
Meanwhile, a free medical camp was conducted today at Akampat Relief Camp under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Imphal East on the theme, "Doctor's For You".
During the medical camp, a team led by Dr Indra Devi, Chief Medical Officer, Imphal East provided free health examination/ consultation to the conflict survivors staying in the relief camp.
Medicines were also distributed to the patients.
Akampat Relief Committee chairman, Thongam Tilananda conveyed his gratitude to the DC Imphal East and CMO Imphal East for their concern and support during this difficult time.
