National Space Day celebrated at IIIT Manipur

Joining the rest of the country, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Manipur, celebrated the National Space Day 2024 at its premises in Mantripukhri on August 23.
The celebration was graced by Padma Bhushan Prof Thirumalachari Ramasami, former Director of the Department of Science & Technology, India, as the chief guest, said a release issued by IIIT Manipur.
At the event, Dr Ramasami highlighted the importance of National Space Day, focusing on the Chandrayaan 3 mission, its significant features and sustainable technology.
Prof Krishnan Baskar, Director of IIIT Manipur, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the critical role of space exploration and the contribution of educational institutions in nurturing scientific curiosity among students.
The celebration included the National Space Day Exhibition 2024 for students from different schools of Manipur (Class 8 to 12), a quiz competition, and a robotics challenge.
Altogether, 100 students from various schools of Manipur such as Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Assam Rifles Public School, New Keithelmanbi, DAV Public School, Sangakpham and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Akampat visited IIIT Manipur to participate in the celebration.
The exhibition concluded with Naorem Arjun Singh and Elex Chongtham of Johnstone Higher Secondary School winning first place.
The second place was secured by Saurabh Deb and Shilheibi Chanu of Assam Rifles Public School, IGAR South Mantripukhri, while Sophia Lourembam and Ingudam Velena from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Akampat won the third place.
Certificates along with cash prizes were presented to the winners.
