Brainson, Lorena win U-15 Rapid Chess tourney titles

IMPHAL, Aug 25 : Haobam Brainson of KV Langjing and Nameirakpam Lorena of Pitambara English School secured boys and girls' titles in the 1st DCA U-15 Rapid Chess Tournament 2024 organised by D Chess Academy at Uripok Khaidem Leikai.
As many as 24 players including 8 girls competed for top honours in the tournament.
Brainson topped with 5 points as Jonex Nandeibam of St Joseph's Hr Secondary School collected 4 points to finish second.
Lorena in the meantime sealed the girls' title with 3 points as Nongthombam Anjelena of Nirmalabas secured 2.5 points to finish second.
Lourembam Stanley Meethoiba of UNACCO Khongman and Kabir Parth of KV Lamphel No 1 scored 4 and 2.5 points to seal top two positions in the U-11 boys competition as Nirmalabas students- Hanjabam Rajasmita (BH 13.5) and Nongthombam Jojo (BH 12.5) got identical three points to confirm top two places in the U-11 girls' category.
Leirikhomba Mangang of Shishu Nistha Niketan (BH 14.5) and Chingshubam Mangnus (BH 13) of SL Arena of Learning secured the top two positions in the U-7 boys' category with 2 identical points while Ira Shankar (2 pts) of UNACCO Khongman and Thokchom Lingjelleima (1 pt) of Shemrock Prime, Uripok finished first and second in U-7 girls' category.
